Church of Aurora
The Church of Aurora calls the flock to worship in the Valley neighborhood of Providence.
Built as a church at the turn of the last century, the Church of Aurora has witnessed Providence's many expressions. From humble beginnings as an immigrant church, to a speakeasy during Prohibition, to a factory in the post-WWII era.
The Church's latest iteration is a home, museum, and private event space.
WHO WE ARE
Existence precedes Essence
Inspiration
Felicia and Allan created CoA as actualization(s) of self. Existentialists with an affinity for the subversive and card-carrying iconoclasts, we wanted to create a living space that embraced the artistic side of the higher and shadow self, with the flexibility and versatility to be shared with our community as a private social clubhouse. All walks of life, lifestyle, persuasion and identity are welcome here.
Curation
We love to explore locally and internationally. Over several years, we have collected pieces from around the world: from fairs, museums, private collections, as well as commissioned art. CoA's most breathtaking pieces are original designs articulated and executed by DISTORT.
Identification
Visitors may note similar themes of mythology, religion and politics, alive with a musical black heart. Imagine an intellectual salon in the late 19th century, meets a tattoed dive bar with fine art and the most eclectic fire playlist imagineable. Oh, and you can also take a scented steam in our luxe custom spa- it is just that unique!
Aspiration
We have only just begun! Fully opened in 2024 we have already hosted a variety of activities. These include(d): live singer songwriters and jazz, dance nights , Existential Cafes, comedy shows, private parties and receptions. Our goal is to build our flock and continue to expand our portfolio. If you have ideas or want to host here, join the flock and send a message.
